Positive Test!! Not Covid! I’m Having a Baby!!! So now what??
I am so excited to talk about this because I don’t feel likes its talked about enough! To be completely honest, when I found out I was pregnant, the first thing I thought of was (1) “Omg no more Botox and Filler!! ” and (2) “what products do I need to stop using?” Before working at Nowak Aesthetics, I never really cared or knew about the importance of taking care of your skin using medical grade skin care. I barely used any sunscreen…. I know horrible!!
Moving on to today and learning about how our skin loses elasticity and collagen more, we women can lose up to 30% at age 30! I wanted to start asap! My skin care routine is something that I am proud of and have been consistent with for the past 4 years. I am also a Hello Bright Eyes member, so the combination of BOTOX® and good skin care has my skin looking smooth, refreshed, and youthful.
So, let’s get into it, for my morning routine I use Gentle Wash, Soothing Green Tea Toner, Super C, HA5, Lumiere Firm and Protect & Glow Sunscreen. For my nighttime routine I use Gentle Wash, Soothing Green Tea Toner, HA5 and Lumiere Firm. I also use AHA/BHA Exfoliating Cleanser 3x a week in the morning. The products I had to stop were my Retinol 0.5 and Clear Plus. So far in my pregnancy my skin feels dryer than normal, so I started to use our Hydrating Facial Cream at night.
I am going to be real. Another thing that happened with pregnancy is I started to grow more hair than usual… especially on my face! This is my second pregnancy so when I was pregnant 6 years ago, I wasn’t using any good skin care or having cosmetic treatments done. This time around even though I am 6 years older my skin looks/feels 10x better than before because of my consistent skin care regimen.
Not only did I have to stop using certain products, but I also had to put my Botox and Fillers on hold until after I am done breastfeeding. Luckily there are still amazing treatments and products I can still do that will help with fine lines, tone & texture, large pores, elasticity, brown spots, and congested skin. Yes, I am talking about HydraFacial!!! I cannot stress enough how amazing this treatment is. What I did was combine my HydraFacial with Dermaplaning and let me tell you guys the results were incredible. My skin looked so smooth, bright, and refreshed I got so many compliments. If you don’t know what Dermaplaning is, it’s a treatment that exfoliates your skin and gets rid of dirt and peach fuzz using a scalpel.
Like I said before because of my pregnancy and noticing more facial hair I was in desperate need of this treatment. My results lasted about 3 weeks with the Dermaplaning. This combination treatment is perfect if you are getting ready for a special event and want your skin to look/ feel clean and refreshed. It is recommended to do every 4 weeks to maintain your results. It’s such a relaxing treatment and there is no downtime. What I absolutely love is a new device we got in the office called Dermaflash! This is an exfoliation device that I can do at home to help maintain my dermaplaning results. It’s very safe and easy to use and comes in handy when I need a quick last-minute shave.
Finally going back to why I had to stop Retinol, Clear Plus, Botox, and Filler. There are not enough studies to prove having these treatments or products are safe or unsafe during pregnancy. So why risk it? Most doctors, including Dr. Nowak, recommend stopping these until you are done breastfeeding. I am personally counting down the days until I can have my treatments again.
