Have you ever wondered if it’s possible to tighten sagging skin with just a single treatment? You may not have heard or read about Thermage yet. At our San Diego practice, a growing number of men and women have benefited greatly from the superior results of this latest treatment in reducing the appearance of loose and sagging skin.
Thermage to the Rescue!
Thermage was originally used to tighten facial skin — from nasolabial folds to jowls in the lower third of the face — minus the scalpel of face lift. Recently, it is now used to tighten general skin laxity in other areas of the body such as flabby arms, loose abdominal skin, and flaccid thigh skin. By and large, Thermage is often the top choice of patients who choose not to have surgery but are also worried that the results of fillers won’t be long-lasting.
What to Expect from Your Thermage Treatment
During your Thermage treatment, a hand piece with a smooth, flat tip will deliver radiofrequency energy (quite different from laser) to the deep layers of the skin. The radiofrequency energy will stimulate collagen production underneath the skin which in turn renews the skin’s appearance to a smoother and tighter look.
At Nowak Aesthetics, the procedure takes from 30 minutes to a few hours to perform, depending upon the size of the area being treated. In addition, Thermage is non-ablative; this means that its effects are only limited to the layers underneath the skin but keeps the superficial skin layers intact. Thus, there is no downtime and patients can resume regular activity immediately following the procedure.
A significant amount of swelling may be present post-procedure. This should not be a cause of alarm as this simply means that the level of treatment provided was satisfactory and that desired outcomes will most likely be achieved. By and large, the effects of Thermage will last for roughly 3 to 6 months.
