WHAT IS PRP FOR HAIR RESTORATION?

PRP therapy stands for platelet-rich plasma, a unique treatment that uses the power of your blood’s platelets to rejuvenate and revive. Research has shown that platelets can aid in healing and regrowth – when applied to the scalp, this means that platelets can encourage follicular growth. PRP is injected directly into the natural hairline, thus ensuring that follicles are regrown in a way that looks natural.

PRP For Hair RestorationHOW DOES PRP FOR HAIR RESTORATION WORK?

The procedure follows two stages:

A small sample of blood (usually about two teaspoons) is removed from the client’s arm and placed into a centrifuge. This device separates the PRP-containing 8 key growth factors and cytokines from the blood, which are essential to stimulating stem cell activity in the scalp. The entire process is surprisingly fast – it usually takes about ten minutes right in the office!

This solution is injected strategically along the hairline and scalp where regrowth will occur.

PRP for hair restoration can also be an excellent choice for clients who undergo hair grafting surgery and want to amplify their results while reducing scarring.

AM I A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR PRP HAIR THERAPY?

You’re a good candidate for PRP hair therapy if you’ve had hair loss or are worried about thinning hair. You may also be a candidate for PRP for hair restoration if you’re undergoing a hair graft but want to minimize surgical scars.

HOW LONG DOES THE PROCEDURE TAKE?

The procedure takes about an hour to perform (this doesn’t include the time spent collecting blood and cleansing the platelets). Your final procedure time will be determined during your PRP hair therapy consultation.

IS THERE ANY RECOVERY TIME?

There’s virtually no downtime associated with PRP therapy; patients can leave immediately after their procedure and continue with their normal activities. You will need to avoid bathing, showering, or swimming for the first 24 hours after your treatment. You will be provided with additional care recommendations during your PRP hair therapy consultation.

Usage

The treatment of PRP is relatively simple and can be completed within an hour. Blood is drawn from the patient (approximately 20cc). The blood is then transferred to a 30mm cylinder (YES PRP Kit). The doctor immediately places the blood into a centrifuge for separation, which takes approximately 8 minutes. Once the Platelet Rich Plasma is separated, it is transferred to a syringe for injection. PPP is distinctly visible and may be used separately or mixed with the PRP.
